Theater in the Woods Founder/Director/Acting Coach, Jo Anna Petrouleas has been acting for over thirty years. She has studied at Michael Howard Studios (NY), Beverly Hills Playhouse with Milton Katselas (LA), Professional Acting company with Gary Marshall, Al Onorato Joe Reich, and Bobby Hoffman (LA), HB Studios (NY), Speech/Voice, Bob Corff, Jo Anna Shields (LA), Dance, Dupree Dance Studio, Main Street Studio (LA).
A selection of her Video/Film credits include the lead role in the documentary “The First Ten Years” as well as a supporting role in “Knights of the City” Miami Gold Productions, “20 Minute Workout” Channel T (LA), “Hello NY” channel 47, Deep Purple Music Video, MTV along with many plays and print jobs. She is also a member of SAG and AFTRA.
She has directed and produced several plays at the Michael J. Petrides School.
She has directed & produced several plays/showcases at Theater in the Woods along with two productions at the Hilton Garden Inn,” Phantom of the Opera” and “ Narnia”. She has also produced three films, “The Theater”, “Fan” nominated for Best Screenplay, Best Picture and Best Actor at the 2009 S.I. Film Festival . This film ended up winning Best Screenplay. “The 7 Day Diary” which will be in the 2011 S.I. Film Festival. She is proud to be able to share her life experiences ,love and knowledge of the theater with her students. Mrs. Petrouleas shares two passions in life outside of her family: the theater and children.
She is currently in the process of opening up a non-profit organization “Theater in the Woods Film Conservatory”.
Mrs. Petrouleas has been awarded Staten Islander of the Week by NY1. Iron Hill Civic Ass. Community Service Award for her continuing work with her students, and a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition.
